Agartala, June 10, 2025: Tipra Motha Party founder and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Tuesday reaffirmed his firm stance on the pending implementation of the Tiprasa accord, warning that he would prefer to walk away from power rather than remain in government without fulfilling the promises made to the indigenous people.

Sharing his views in his official Facebook handle, Debbarman stated that the party’s entry into the ruling alliance was contingent upon the central government’s assurance to implement the Tiprasa accord. “Our commitment is to the people who voted for us. If I can’t deliver on the promises, I don’t deserve to be in power,” he said. He added that he has already conveyed this sentiment to Tipra Motha ministers and the majority of the party’s MLAs.

Expressing concern over the delay, Debbarman said, “Eighteen months have passed, and the wait continues. I understand that recent developments like the Pahalgam terror attack have shifted the Centre’s focus. Still, there is a growing sense that something is amiss. In Delhi, the talks are positive, but there is no follow-up on the ground.”

The senior leader also announced the upcoming launch of a dedicated helpline to monitor illegal immigration from Bangladesh. The helpline will allow citizens to report any suspicious cross-border movement directly to the party, which will then coordinate with district authorities to ensure legal action.

“We must protect our land and resources for future generations,” he said, emphasizing that the public should refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Debbarman concluded by calling upon all communities in Tripura to set aside party politics and prioritize the interests of the state.
