Agartala, June 16, 2025: The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) today announced a state-level public outreach campaign starting June 22 as part of a nationwide initiative directed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The campaign aims to raise awareness about key issues under the BJP-led government, including rising unemployment, deteriorating law and order and economic distress.

Addressing the media after an organizational meeting at Congress Bhavan in Agartala, TPCC president Asish Kumar Saha informed that leaders from across the state- district and block presidents along with other party wings participated in the session to strategize the campaign rollout.

Saha stated that the outreach would include door-to-door visits across all blocks, where Congress workers will distribute leaflets and engage with citizens on a range of concerns. The campaign will spotlight the current socio-economic conditions in both the state and the country, underlining the Congress party’s alternative vision, including advocacy for a caste-based census and steps taken by party leaders such as Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge.

In a controversial remark, Saha, a former BJP MLA alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had accepted a ceasefire with Pakistan under pressure from former US President Donald Trump following the Pahalgam terror attack, an issue the Congress also plans to bring to public attention.

According to Congress leaders, the campaign will also highlight issues like price rise, crimes against women and governance failures, while appealing for public support to “restore democratic values and accountability.”
