Meghalaya Cabinet Minister and MDA spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh on Friday said that Assam and Meghalaya are set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the inter-state boundary dispute before August 15. Under the proposed agreement, five villages in the Ri-Bhoi district will be returned to Meghalaya.
Lyngdoh informed that all groundwork related to Langpih has been completed and only a joint visit with Assam counterparts is pending. Addressing allegations of inaction in Lapangap, he clarified that the state government had deployed police personnel and magistrates to confront the situation and maintain its position on the border issue.
