Manipur: Huge Cache Of Arms And Ammunition Recovered In Jairolpokpi And Uchathol Villages

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a joint search operation was carried out today between 12:30 pm and 1:30 pm in the area between Jairolpokpi and Uchathol villages. The operation was led by a combined Quick Action Team (QAT) comprising the Jiribam Commando Unit, Jiribam District Police, 7th IRB, 87 Bn. CRPF, 48 Bn. CRPF, 20 Bn. CRPF, 156 Bn. CRPF, and 38 Assam Rifles.

The operation followed a tip-off received around 11:30 am regarding the concealment of arms and ammunition by anti-social elements in the area. During the intensive search, a significant cache of weapons and explosives was recovered.

The recovered items include two sniper rifles (modified .303 rifles), six SBBL guns, four DBBL guns, one Pompi gun, and one tear gas gun. Security forces also recovered a scope, 180 rounds of .303 live ammunition, eight SLR live rounds, 27 rounds of 5.56 mm live ammunition, eight .303 blank cartridges, 13 SLR blank cartridges, three .303 magazines, and one SLR magazine.

Additionally, 11 tube launchers, five Baofeng walkie-talkies, four more walkie-talkies of the same make, and eight tear gas shells were seized.

The recovery marks a significant success in curbing the presence of illegal weapons and potential threats in the region.
