Arunachal Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein Inaugurates Buddha Vihara In Namsai

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the Buddha Vihara at Nongtaw Kham-II, Namsai, on Saturday. The Vihara is envisioned as a spiritual centre and a symbol of cultural identity, reflecting the core values of peace, compassion, and wisdom from the Buddha’s teachings.

Speaking on the occasion, Chowna Mein highlighted the importance of preserving local language and culture through village Viharas by appointing local language teachers to pass on traditions and scripts to younger generations.

He thanked all those who contributed to establishing the Vihara, noting it will serve as a centre for faith, learning, and harmony for generations to come.

The event also included the planting of a Bodhi tree by Chowna Mein and Venerable Dhammakitti Mahathero, symbolizing enlightenment and spiritual growth.

The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including Venerable Dhammakitti Mahathero, President of Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha; Venerable Vimalatissa Mahathero, Head Abbot of Kongmu Kham; MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom; ZPC Urmila Mancheykhun; and District BJP President Ningroo Ong Maio.
