Agartala, July 24, 2025: The Scheduled Castes Welfare Department of Tripura on Thursday organized a day-long Chintan Shivir at the State Guest House, focusing on evaluating the progress of various developmental schemes aimed at uplifting the Scheduled Caste (SC) community in the state.

Presiding over the session, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das said that the initiative was intended to foster honest introspection and constructive dialogue on the government’s efforts over the past two to two-and-a-half years. Importantly, MLAs from all political parties, including the opposition CPI(M), were invited to take part in the deliberations.

“As a Minister, it’s important for me to assess what has been achieved and what remains to be done for the socio-economic upliftment of the SC community. This platform allows us to discuss that in detail,” said Das.

He emphasized that the Chintan Shivir was designed to encourage open discussion and collective brainstorming among elected representatives and stakeholders. “We aim to identify gaps in existing policies and improve implementation through shared insights. Suggestions from the MLAs will be compiled to draft a holistic project focused on the overall development of the SC community,” the Minister added.

The consultation was attended by policymakers, government officials and community representatives, marking a step towards a more inclusive and participatory model of welfare planning in the state.
