Agartala, August 01, 2025. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, M Riaz Hamidullah, has arrived in Agartala on Friday for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening cross-border ties and reviewing key connectivity and trade projects.
According to the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office, the High Commissioner will remain in the state until August 4. Upon arrival at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, Hamidullah paid floral tributes at Albert Ekka Park and later visited the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission in Agartala.
As part of his itinerary, the envoy is scheduled to visit the Agartala Integrated Check Post (ICP) and the Akhaura Land Port, both crucial hubs for India-Bangladesh trade. Later this evening, he will meet with Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for discussions expected to focus on connectivity, border infrastructure, and bilateral cooperation.
On August 2, the High Commissioner will cross into Bangladesh to visit Ashuganj and the Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Brahmanbaria. He will also inspect the Nischintapur Railway Station, a key point in the Akhaura-Agartala Rail Link project aimed at enhancing regional rail connectivity.
The following day, August 3, he is slated to meet Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu and travel to the southern border town of Sabroom, where he will visit the Sabroom ICP and Maitri Setu – a bridge symbolizing friendship between the two nations.
Hamidullah will conclude his Tripura tour on August 4, departing for New Delhi.
