A 32-year-old man from Assam’s Cachar district has gone missing following a mid-air altercation on IndiGo flight 6E-2387 from Mumbai to Kolkata on July 31, his family has alleged.
The missing passenger, Hussain Ahmed Majumdar of Lathimara village, was on his way to Silchar via Kolkata. According to family members, Hussain had informed them before boarding that he had lost his mobile phone in Mumbai and would buy a new one after reaching home.
When he failed to arrive at Silchar’s Kumbhirgram Airport on August 1, the family grew worried. They later came across a viral video showing Hussain being assaulted by a co-passenger during the flight, reportedly following a panic attack.
The family has lodged a missing person complaint at Udharbond Police Station and approached the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for help. However, they claim no information about his whereabouts has been shared by either IndiGo Airlines or airport authorities.
Katigorah Police Station Officer-in-Charge Joseph Keivom confirmed that the matter has been reported and forwarded to the concerned authorities.
IndiGo Airlines stated that the co-passenger involved in the altercation was detained by CISF personnel at Kolkata Airport and that legal proceedings are underway. The airline has not commented on Hussain’s disappearance.
The case remains under investigation.
