Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the statewide launch of the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Moina Aasoni 2.0 scheme at Gauhati University. The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to more than four lakh students in the 2025-26 academic year, including Higher Secondary, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and B.Ed students.
The monthly assistance under the scheme is set at ₹1,000 for Higher Secondary students, ₹1,250 for Undergraduate students, and ₹2,500 for Postgraduate students. The initiative focuses on preventing child marriage by encouraging girls to continue their education.
Applications are to be submitted through educational institutions, with data uploaded via SCERT, Darpan, and Samarth portals. Last year, the scheme benefited over 1.6 lakh students.
The Chief Minister said in a tweet, “We have renewed our fight against child marriage with the launch of Nijut Moina 2.0, which will cover over 4 lakh girls in Assam and save them from child marriage, whilst giving wings to their educational dreams.”
