Assam CID arrested six individuals, among them a candidate for the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) election, in connection with a fake appointment letter scam, an official said on Sunday.

The accused allegedly took money by issuing forged appointment letters promising jobs in the Water Resources Department. The scam was uncovered following a complaint in February from the Chief Engineer’s office about fake letters being circulated within the department.
