The Gangtok Municipal Corporation on Monday organised a Tiranga Rally from Ranka Phatak, Sichey, to the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, as part of the “Har Ghar Tiranga – Har Ghar Swachhata” campaign in the lead-up to the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Upper Burtuk MLA Kala Rai attended as the chief guest and led the rally to its conclusion at the DAC, where it was received by the District Collector.
The rally saw participation from councillors, officials and staff of the Gangtok Municipal Corporation, self-help groups, and NSS volunteers from local schools. It aimed to spread awareness on waste segregation and promote cleanliness.
The programme is among a series of activities planned by the GMC in accordance with Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs directives, culminating with the Independence Day celebrations.
