Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday warned visitors from other states that they could be arrested if they violate laws while in Assam.
Speaking to reporters at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) following the death of a newborn, Sarma mentioned that some visitors were lawyers from Mumbai and Kerala.
He added that certain outsiders had come to Assam during the National Register of Citizens (NRC) update, which disrupted the process. “We are monitoring their activities, and anyone crossing legal limits will be arrested,” he said.
