Agartala, August 21, 2025: A 23-year-old woman has lodged a complaint at the East Women’s Police Station after allegedly being denied marital recognition by her husband and his family.
The complainant, identified as Isha Deb, accused her husband, 24-year-old Ripon Das, son of Raju Das of Aralia Shalbagan, of refusing to acknowledge her as his wife despite a marriage ceremony held at Kasba Kali Temple.
According to Isha, she had developed a relationship with Ripon about a year ago after leaving her previous marriage, which she said had collapsed due to her former husband’s drug addiction. She is also the mother of a seven-year-old son from that earlier marriage.
Isha alleged that Ripon assured her of marriage and a secure future together, which led to their temple wedding. However, following the ceremony, she claimed Ripon neither took her home nor recognized her as his wife. Furthermore, his family reportedly declined to accept her as their daughter-in-law.
Feeling deceived and socially humiliated, Isha approached the East Agartala Women’s police station with the support of her family members and local residents. She has demanded justice and urged authorities to ensure a fair resolution to her plight.
Police officials confirmed that a formal complaint has been registered, and the matter is under investigation.
