Assam Police seized cough syrup valued at nearly ₹3 crore and arrested two individuals during an operation at the Churaibari check post on the Assam-Tripura border.
During the interception, police recovered 30,420 bottles of codeine phosphate-based syrup from a vehicle. The consignment was being transported illegally when it was stopped for inspection by security personnel.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the seizure through a social media post, describing it as a significant step in the state’s fight against drug trafficking.
Both accused are in custody, and police have launched further investigation to trace the network involved in the smuggling.
