The District Administration Kakching, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), organised an awareness and interaction programme under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) at Royal Brighter Academy, Sora, in Kakching district.
The programme was graced by Amir Khan, Founder of Royal Brighter Academy, as Chief Guest; Seram Asha, District Social Welfare Officer, Kakching, as President; and Keibuan Kamei, Principal of Royal Brighter Academy, as Guest of Honour. Y. Basanta Singh from the Social Awareness Volunteer Organization attended as Resource Person.
As part of the event, students took a pledge under NMBA to work towards a drug-free and healthy society. The programme aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse, promote a drug-free lifestyle, and encourage collective responsibility in the fight against drugs.
Meanwhile, the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching, distributed transgender identity cards and certificates to 11 transgender persons at the DC Office Complex, Kakching. The documents were handed over by Rohit Anand, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Kakching.
In India, transgender individuals can apply online for a transgender certificate and identity card through the National Portal for Transgender Persons. The nationally recognized ID, issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, is mandatory to avail welfare measures under the Support for Marginalized Individuals for Livelihood and Enterprise (SMILE) scheme.
