Torrential rains and mudslides have severely affected road communications along the Chathe, Paglapahar, and New Chumoukedima sections of National Highway-29 forcing authorities prohibiting vehicular movement till restoration of the road is completed.
Multiple mudslides, have struck, between Chathe bridge and New Chumoukedima severely, affecting, the vehicular, movement from Dimapur-Chumoukedima- Kohima highway. According to police sources, no injuries or casualties have been reported at the time of the incident.
The Chathe River swollen above the danger mark following continuous heavy rainfall has swept away a suspension bridge linking Chümoukedima and Seithekema villages.
Meanwhile, several colonies in low-lying areas of Dimapur town have been inundated, resulting in significant property damage and widespread disruption to daily life. Multiple landslides have also been reported in Kohima, Phek, and Tseminyu districts.
