Agartala, May 18, 2026: Alleging severe administrative lapses and negligence in the publication of examination results, the Ramakrishna Mahavidyalaya unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a strong protest on Monday, accusing Tripura University of “playing havoc” with students’ futures.

The demonstration witnessed the presence of College Secretary Pramatosh Pal, ABVP City Secretary Sneha Sutradhar, Unakoti District Convener Anupam Majumdar, along with several other student leaders. Around noon, more than a hundred students assembled in front of the office of College Principal Dr. Ajit Barman, voicing their grievances.

During the protest, agitated students raised slogans against the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, Dr. Shyamal Das, and burned his effigy within the college premises. Protesters alleged that despite appearing for examinations properly, many students have been wrongly marked with “backlog” statuses. They further claimed that delays in result publication, discrepancies in marks, and lack of online accessibility have caused widespread distress among students.

Speaking at the site, ABVP leader Ankan Pal sharply criticized the university administration, stating that repeated errors in results and the absence of any effective grievance redressal mechanism reflect gross irresponsibility. He emphasized that examination results are crucial for students’ academic and professional futures, and such lapses are unacceptable.

Pal warned that if the issues are not resolved within the next 15 days, the ABVP would escalate its agitation with more intensified movements.

The student body has demanded immediate corrective measures rather than mere assurances, asserting that continued inaction would lead to a broader protest across the region.
