Nagaland Hit By Severe Monsoon Damage Across Multiple Districts

Extreme monsoon weather from September 8 to 14 has caused widespread destruction across Nagaland. Heavy rainfall triggered floods, landslides, and mudslides, damaging infrastructure, homes, roads, and agricultural land in nearly every district.

Chumoukedima district reported extensive damage, including the complete washout of the Pagla Pahar road stretch, destruction of a bridge between Chumoukedima and Seithekema, and flooding in several areas. Landslides and waterlogging also disrupted traffic and affected homes.

Other heavily affected districts include Peren, Meluri, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Noklak, Tuensang, Kiphire, Tseminyu and Wokha, The NSDMA, in coordination with PWD, is working to restore critical connectivity to the state capital particularly the Pimla- Mhainamtsi and Niuland- Ghutovi- Zhadima roads. The NSDMA stated that , it remain on high alert as the monsoon season continues.
