In preparation for the upcoming 12th Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC) General Election 2025, Dr. H. Lalthlangliana, Commissioner, Mizoram State Election Commission (SEC), held a consultative meeting with representatives of NGOs, Churches, Media (MJA) and Political Parties today at the DC Conference Hall, Lawngtlai.
The meeting was chaired by Donny Lalruatsanga, District Election Officer (DEO)Lawngtlai. The Commissioner was accompanied by V.L. Remliana, Secretary (SEC), and Vanlalchhuanawma Chhawngthu, Deputy Secretary (SEC).
At the outset, Dr. H. Lalthlangliana expressed his gratitude to all participants. He stated that such interactions are crucial to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election. Emphasizing the importance of voter freedom and choice, he said that the ultimate goal of the SEC is to conduct an election where every voter can cast their vote without fear or influence.
The Commissioner announced that the date of polling will soon be officially notified. He urged all political parties to strictly adhere to the Model Code of Conduct, and to avoid any activities that could disturb peace or fairness during the election period. He also appealed to all NGOs, Media and Church leaders to extend full cooperation and assistance in ensuring clean and transparent elections.
V.L. Remliana, Secretary, SEC, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the need for strict compliance with election rules and the proper implementation of the Model Code of Conduct. He encouraged NGOs, Media and Church organizations to actively support the SEC in creating widespread awareness and maintaining discipline throughout the election process.
The meeting saw active participation and valuable contributions from representatives of NGOs, Churches, Political Parties, Media and LSA (Lai Students’ Association). Discussions included ways to ensure a smooth, impartial, and transparent election. An open interaction session was also held for questions and clarifications.
Donny Lalruatsanga, (DEO) expressed appreciation to all attendees for their cooperation and commitment, and formally concluded the meeting.
