Guwahati, Nov 12: Assam Police have arrested five individuals for allegedly spreading provocative content online related to the recent Delhi blast incident, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced. The arrested persons are Mattiur Rehman from Darrang, Hassan Ali Mondal from Goalpara, Abdul Latif from Chirang, Wajhul Kamal from Kamrup, and Nur Amin Ahmed from Bongaigaon. Authorities described them as key accused and highlighted the state’s zero-tolerance policy toward the misuse of social media to promote hatred or glorify terrorism.

Following the blast, heightened security measures have been implemented at Guwahati Railway Station, with intensified checks conducted by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).

The explosion occurred in a Hyundai i20 near Lal Quila metro station in New Delhi on Monday, killing at least eight people. Forensic teams have collected DNA samples from the mother of suspect Dr. Umar Un Nabi, who reportedly drove the car, and sent them to the AIIMS forensic laboratory for analysis.

Delhi Police sources stated that Umar was seen traveling on both the Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway before reaching Delhi. Surveillance footage is being examined to trace his route and determine if other vehicles were involved.

Meanwhile, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has formed a dedicated team to investigate the blast, officially classified as a terrorist act connected to a Jaish-e-Mohammad module. The probe, transferred to the NIA by the Ministry of Home Affairs, will be conducted under senior officers to ensure a thorough investigation.
