Agartala, November 24, 2025: Three persons were detained late Monday night near the Amtali Bypass in Agartala after police recovered illegal firearms during a routine patrol operation, Superintendent of Police (West Tripura) Namit Pathak informed.
Briefing reporters alongside Additional SP Dhruv Nath and Amtali SDPO Parmita Pandey, SP Pathak said a patrol team led by Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das intercepted an auto-rickshaw after noticing suspicious movement in the area.
During the search, police recovered two factory-made small arms, four magazines, and three mobile phones from the possession of the occupants. Two of the detainees identified as Tinku Debbarma and Sumendra Debbarma, are residents of Barkathal in West Tripura, while the third individual, Suresh Kumar, is a resident of Bihar.
Police stated that Suresh Kumar had arrived in the state just a day earlier and was found in possession of the arms.
“A case has been registered and the trio is being interrogated. Investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapons and determine their objective,” SP Pathak said.
All three suspects have been taken to the police station for questioning, and further legal proceedings are being initiated. They are expected to be produced before the court on Tuesday.
