Guwahati, Nov 28: Congress leader Pawan Khera on Friday accused Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of corruption and alleged misuse of state agencies ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Addressing a press conference, Khera claimed that Sarma is aware of a possible electoral defeat and is allegedly using the police to target political opponents.
Khera further alleged that the Election Commission’s Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam is being misused to include names of voters from outside the state. He said the people of Assam are determined to defeat Sarma in the forthcoming polls and asserted that they would reject what he described as “injustice and corruption.” He added that Sarma could face legal consequences if he loses power.
