The District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC), Bishnupur, today observed World AIDS Day 2025 under the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response” at the Conference Hall of the Old Chief Medical Office, Bishnupur.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam said this year’s theme underscores the need to overcome recent setbacks and strengthen the AIDS response through resilience, innovation, and sustained commitment. She highlighted that human-rights-centred approaches, as advocated by the WHO, are crucial to achieving the global goal of ending AIDS by 2030.
The Deputy Commissioner added that World AIDS Day brings people together worldwide to raise awareness on HIV/AIDS and express global solidarity. She noted that the day provides an important platform to share updates on the current HIV/AIDS situation and promote progress in prevention, treatment, and care.
She further remarked that World AIDS Day remains one of the most widely recognized global health observances, serving as a moment to honour those who have lost their lives and to acknowledge significant achievements, including improved access to treatment and prevention services.
Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur, Dr. L. Raichandra, and District TB Officer, Dr. S. Brojen Singh, were also present as distinguished guests at the observance.
