Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday launched the distribution of scooters under the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award 2025, benefiting 11,250 students who scored 80% and above in the Higher Secondary examination.
Addressing the media after the event, the Chief Minister said the award, initially established as a reward for academic achievement, has evolved into a program that motivates students and fosters academic excellence across the state.
“Giving wings to the dreams of our young ones, this initiative will encourage students to continue performing well and inspire others to strive for excellence,” CM Sarma said.
The initiative reflects the Assam government’s ongoing efforts to support and recognise meritorious students in the state.
