Sikkim Governor, CM Welcome Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan To Gangtok For Statehood Day Celebrations

Gangtok, May 16: Vice President of India C. P. Radhakrishnan arrived in Gangtok on Saturday on an official visit to Sikkim and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Lok Bhawan.

The Vice President was received by Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

Also present on the occasion were Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly M. N. Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Raj Kumari Thapa, ministers of the State Government, Members of Parliament and the Legislative Assembly, senior civil and police officials, State Protocol Officers, and representatives of the Indian Army.

A ceremonial Guard of Honour was presented to the Vice President by the Sikkim Armed Police upon his arrival.

During his visit, the Vice President is scheduled to attend the 51st State Day celebrations at Manan Kendra later in the day.
