Agartala, December 19, 2025: A tragic incident has shaken the locality of Tripura’s Malaynagar Sahapara under Srinagar police station in West district, where a young mother ended her life, leaving behind her 11-month-old child. The deceased has been identified as Samapti Rudra Pal, wife of Ashok Pal.

According to preliminary reports, marital discord is suspected to have led to the incident.

Ashok Pal stated that on the previous day, a minor argument broke out between him and his wife over household chores and childcare. Family members claimed that Samapti also engaged in a quarrel with her mother-in-law during the dispute. Ashok informed Samapti’s parents, who reportedly scolded her, further escalating tensions. However, Ashok said the situation appeared to normalize after some time.

Later, Ashok left home for tuition classes. Before leaving, Samapti had asked him to bring some food items. Shortly afterward, Ashok’s mother called to say Samapti had gone to the bathroom but was not responding for a long time.

Neighbors rushed in and broke open the bathroom door, only to find Samapti hanging inside. She was immediately taken to Tripura Medical College and Dr BR Ambedkar Teaching Hospital at Hapania, where doctors declared her dead.

Police arrived at the scene and have registered a case of unnatural death. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause behind the incident.

The shocking death has cast a pall of grief across the neighborhood. Family members and residents are deeply distressed, particularly as the young mother leaves behind her infant child.
