Guwahati, Dec 25: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, highlighting that Vajpayee’s vision and ideals continue to inspire people-focused governance.

Born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Vajpayee served as India’s Prime Minister for three terms between 1996 and 2004. He passed away on August 16, 2018, in New Delhi. The government observes his birth anniversary as Good Governance Day.

On the occasion, Sarma visited the state BJP headquarters in Guwahati, where he offered floral tributes to Vajpayee’s portrait and viewed a walkthrough exhibition on the life and achievements of the Bharat Ratna awardee.

“Shraddheya Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji’s life, vision & towering ideals continue to be our guiding beacon as we remain ‘Atal’ in delivering people-first & accountable governance for all. On his Jayanti, I offer my shraddhanjali to the great son of Maa Bharati,” Sarma posted on X.
