Itanagar, Dec 27: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles carried out a joint helicopter-borne troop insertion exercise in the strategically important Vijaynagar salient of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday, according to a defence statement released on Saturday.

The exercise focused on rapid deployment and operational readiness in remote and challenging terrain, involving the swift induction of acclimatised troops into a simulated combat zone to address potential security threats.
Defence spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat said the drill emphasised speed, coordination, and precision under near-realistic conditions, showcasing the forces’ ability to operate efficiently in difficult environments.
Troops participating in the exercise demonstrated high levels of professionalism, adaptability, and combat preparedness. The drill also enhanced coordination between the Army and Assam Rifles, strengthening interoperability and collective response in sensitive border areas.

Lt Col Rawat added that such exercises help refine standard operating procedures and expand operational reach in high-stakes regions.
