The 51st Foundation Day of the Manipur Press Club was observed on Monday at the club premises in Majorkhul, Imphal.
The programme was organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU).
Several dignitaries attended the event, including MLAs Yumnam Khemchand, Kh. Ibomcha and Sapam Kunjakeswar, Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Ngangom Uttam, Editors’ Guild Manipur president Khogendro Khomdram, and AMWJU president Asem Bhakta. Former office bearers of the Manipur Press Club and a large number of journalists were also present.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were paid at the Journalist Memorial Pillars in remembrance of media persons who dedicated their lives to the profession. Speakers highlighted the crucial role of journalism in a democratic society and reflected on the Manipur Press Club’s contribution to the press fraternity over the past five decades.
The event marked an important milestone in the club’s journey, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding press freedom and professional ethics in Manipur.
