Agartala, January 6, 2026: Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Tuesday held a courtesy meeting with Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey during the latter’s visit to the state.
Following the talks, Debbarma said the discussion focused on advancing the overall development of tribal communities in Tripura. Key issues included social and economic empowerment, evaluation of ongoing welfare programs, and the need for more inclusive initiatives in the future.
Emphasizing the importance of joint efforts, Debbarma noted that both the Centre and the State must work in close coordination to uplift tribal populations. “We exchanged views on enhancing cooperation between the central and state governments. I believe this dialogue will positively influence policy and practical decisions for tribal welfare in the days ahead,” he remarked.
The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring tribal communities fully benefit from constitutional rights and welfare schemes, while also laying the groundwork for new strategies to tackle emerging challenges.
