Thadou Inpi Manipur has strongly condemned the abduction and alleged killing of Meitei man Mayanglambam Rishikanta in Churachandpur district on January 21, 2026, terming the incident a brutal and premeditated act.

In a statement, the organisation alleged that the victim, husband of Chingnu Haokip, was abducted from Tuibong despite the presence of security forces and prior permission granted for his visit by local authorities and a Kuki National Organisation (SoO) group operating in the area.

Thadou Inpi Manipur said the incident reflects serious lawlessness and poses a grave threat to peace and public safety in Manipur.

Describing the killing as an attack on justice and communal harmony, the organisation demanded a thorough investigation, immediate arrest of those involved, and strict punishment under the law. It also urged the government to take urgent preventive measures to protect civilians and prevent recurrence of such incidents.

Thadou Inpi Manipur expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and appealed to all communities to unite against violence and extremism to uphold peace and harmony in the state.
