The Pherzawl district administration on Tuesday organised a tree plantation drive at the district headquarters under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, reaffirming its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The programme was jointly organised by the District Administration, Pherzawl, the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO), and the District Forest Officer, Pherzawl Division. The initiative aimed to address climate change concerns while promoting environmental awareness among the public.
The plantation drive was led by Deputy Commissioner Mannuamching, along with the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Pherzawl, and In-charge District Social Welfare Officer Joel G Haokip.
Saplings were planted within the district headquarters campus as part of efforts to enhance green cover and encourage eco-friendly practices.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the importance of tree plantation in mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and ensuring a healthier environment for future generations. They also emphasised the need for active community participation to sustain such initiatives.
The drive forms part of the broader objectives of the BBBP initiative, which, besides focusing on the welfare and empowerment of girls, also promotes social responsibility and sustainable development activities across the district.
