Agartala, February 27, 2026: Members of the North Eastern Council (NEC) Longki Phangcho and Tenzing Norbu Thongdok under the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Government of India, reached Agartala on Thursday on a four-day official tour of Tripura.
Soon after their arrival, the NEC members held a review meeting with officials of the Planning Department, Government of Tripura to take stock of NEC-supported projects across the state. The meeting focused on examining the progress of ongoing works as well as completed projects, with special emphasis on quality of implementation and adherence to timelines.

Senior officials discussed measures to improve coordination among departments, remove procedural delays, and ensure that development initiatives deliver tangible benefits to the people. The review also highlighted the role of NEC-funded schemes in strengthening infrastructure and promoting balanced socio-economic growth in Tripura.
During their visit, the NEC members will conduct field visits to important project sites and interact with concerned departments to assess on-ground progress and resolve issues affecting execution. The visit reflects the Centre’s sustained focus on monitoring development initiatives in Tripura and reinforcing its commitment to inclusive and sustainable development in the North Eastern Region.
