Agartala, March 21, 2026: Tripura Police on Saturday detained two individuals for allegedly circulating objectionable, AI-generated images of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on social media.
The accused were identified as Deepak Chandra Paul, a resident of Narsingarh, and Mangal Kaloi of Nandan Nagar. Police said Paul was taken into custody in the early hours of Saturday, while Kaloi was apprehended following a raid at his residence around 3 a.m.
According to officials, both men shared manipulated images of the Chief Minister that quickly went viral across multiple platforms, prompting swift police intervention. Separate operations were carried out to detain the accused, who were later brought to the police station for questioning.
Investigators are probing the source and wider circulation of the content to determine if others were involved. Authorities confirmed that relevant legal provisions have been invoked in the case.
Police further urged citizens to exercise caution when sharing AI-generated material online and warned against circulating misleading or objectionable content.
