Guwahati, Mar 23: At least four security personnel were injured on Sunday when ULFA(I) militants attacked a police commando camp in Jagun, Tinsukia district. The proscribed group claimed responsibility for the assault, prompting Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to initiate counter-operations to apprehend the attackers.
In response to the incident, Congress general secretary Jitendra Singh criticized the state’s internal security, describing it as “in shambles.” Singh questioned the BJP-led government’s record on law and order, citing an earlier discovery of 22 bombs across Assam on August 15, 2024, and alleging insufficient follow-up action.
Singh also raised concerns about security ahead of next month’s Assembly elections. “If you can’t secure your own state, can’t fight the terrorists, with what face are you going for the elections and seeking votes?” he asked.
He further highlighted public priorities, stating that citizens are concerned about employment, household budgets, and price stability.
