Agartala, March 25, 2026: The TIPRA Motha Party on Tuesday released its list of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), scheduled to be held on April 12.

The announcement comes amid heightened political activity in the state, with parties intensifying preparations for the crucial 30-member council polls. The TIPRA Motha has fielded candidates across multiple constituencies, reflecting its strategy to consolidate support across tribal-dominated regions.

The candidates announced are as follows: Bhabaranjan Reang (Damchara Jampui), Swapan Kr. Chakma (Machmara), Umasankar Reang (Kanchanpur-Dasda), Hollywood Chakma (Karamcharra), Hanshu Kumar Tripura (Chawmanu), Dhirendra Debbarma (Damchara Kuchuchara), Khyatrajoy Reang (Ganganagar), Prasmit Debbarma (Halahali), Rajeswar Debbarma (Kulai Champahour), D. Omthai Debbarma (Maharanipur), Jemes Debbarma (Ramchandraghat), Rabindra Debbarma (Simna Tukmakari), Runiel Debbarma (Wakinagar Bodhjungnagar), Geeta Debbarma (Pekuwajala Janmajay Nagar), Jiten Debbarma (Mandai-Pulinpur), Jagadish Debbarma (Jirania), Suraj Debbarma (Takarjala), Budha Debbarma (Amtali Gulagati), Dhananjoy Tripura (Raima Valley), Kamal Kalai (Ampi), Kenaram Reang (Birchandra Kalshi), Debojit Tripura (Purba Maharanipur Buratali), Sujay Uchoi (Nutan Bazar Malbasa), C.K. Jamatia (Maharani Chelagang), Purna Chandra Jamatia (Killa Bagma), Malindra Tripura (Silachari Manu Bankul), Devid Murasing (Mirza Kathalia Mirzapur), and Ratish Tripura (Karamcharra).

With the announcement of candidates, the party has formally kicked off its election campaign, which is expected to gather momentum in the coming days. However, The Tipra Motha party faced internal discord on Tuesday as its leadership failed to formally announce the candidate list for the upcoming Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections. Despite marathon meetings led by party supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma from morning till evening, disagreements over candidate selection stalled the process.

Party insiders revealed that tensions escalated when youth workers from hill areas rushed to the party headquarters after learning of disputes over nominations.

The flashpoint emerged in Raima Valley, where the Indigenous Youth and Tribal Forum (IYTF) demanded Rajesh Tripura as the candidate. However, the leadership leaned towards former MLA Dhananjay Tripura. YTF’s Raima Valley block secretary Nabin Kumar Tripura warned that if Rajesh was denied a ticket, nearly 22,000 voters could withdraw support from the party.

Polling will take place on April 12, while counting is on April 17.
