Tripura Panchayats Win National Rural Governance Awards, CM Dr Manik Saha Hails Achievement

Agartala, March 31, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday said Tripura has earned national recognition in grassroots governance as three panchayat bodies from the state secured top honours in the Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Nanaji Deshmukh Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025 instituted by Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Expressing happiness over the achievement, the Chief Minister said the awards reflect Tripura’s steady progress in strengthening rural administration and inclusive development.

“Thrilled to announce that Tripura shines bright as three of our panchayats have won the prestigious Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Nanaji Deshmukh Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar 2025 by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India,” Saha said.

According to him, Sepahijala district secured Rank 1 in the Best District Panchayat category, while Kanchabari Gram Panchayat achieved Rank 1 in the Healthy Panchayat category. Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat was awarded Rank 3 in the Women-Friendly Panchayat category.

The Chief Minister said the award-winning institutions will also receive financial incentives, with Sepahijala district getting ₹5 crore, Kanchabari Gram Panchayat ₹1 crore, and Baikunthapur Gram Panchayat ₹50 lakh.

Congratulating the elected representatives, officials and local residents associated with the achievement, Saha said the recognition is a matter of pride for Tripura and highlights the success of grassroots governance initiatives being implemented across the state.

“Proud of our grassroots governance,” he added, noting that such recognition would further motivate local bodies to work for sustainable rural development and people-centric administration.
