Gangtok, May 18: In a symbolic gesture aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for prudent spending and resource conservation, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday walked more than two kilometers from his official residence to attend a government programme in Gangtok.

The Chief Minister’s decision to travel on foot emphasized the importance of fuel conservation and responsible energy use. After participating in the event, he returned to his residence by taxi.

This was not the first time Tamang opted for such a measure. On May 15, he had similarly walked from his residence, Mintokgang, to Manan Kendra near the Development Area to attend another official programme. His actions reflect a consistent effort to promote awareness about sustainable practices and mindful consumption among citizens.
