Agartala, April 01, 2026: In a significant public health milestone, South Tripura district has exceeded its target under the Intensified Malaria Elimination Campaign (IMEC) 2026, achieving 100.19 percent screening coverage. Officials confirmed that against the set target of 17,290 individuals, a total of 17,323 people were screened—an unprecedented achievement in the district’s fight against malaria.

The campaign, which combined health camps, door-to-door testing, and outreach in remote villages, ensured that even the most inaccessible areas were covered. Only one positive case was detected, and the patient has already been brought under complete treatment.

District Magistrate and Collector Muhammad Sajjad P., IAS, hailed the achievement as a reflection of both community participation and the relentless efforts of health workers. “This success belongs to the people of South Tripura and our dedicated teams. We will continue until malaria is fully eradicated,” he said.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. J. M. Das stressed the importance of timely testing and treatment, urging residents not to ignore fever symptoms. District Malaria Officer Dr. Manish Choudhury described the 100% coverage as “a reflection of the commitment and hard work of every health worker, from CHOs and ANMs to ASHAs and facilitators.”

Authorities credited the coordinated efforts of medical staff, field workers, and local volunteers for ensuring services reached households across the district. With sustained vigilance and community participation, officials expressed confidence that South Tripura is moving steadily toward becoming a malaria-free district.
