Agartala, April 01, 2026: West Lembucherra under Tripura’s Kamalpur subdivision in Dhalai district witnessed fresh unrest on Wednesday as political tensions flared during the ongoing campaign for the TTAADC elections.

The incident took place while BJP MLA Manoj Kanti Deb and party candidate Ananta Debbarma were campaigning for the Halhali-Asharambari ADC seat. It is reported that, Ananta Debbarma, who recently joined the BJP after leaving Tipra Motha Party, had reached West Lembucherra earlier in the day along with his supporters.

It is alleged that a group of miscreants associated with Tipra Motha suddenly launched an attack on the BJP convoy, triggering stone-pelting and chaotic clashes marked by chases and counter-chases. The situation quickly spiralled out of control, turning the area into a tense conflict zone.

On receiving information, police personnel from Kamalpur subdivision along with Tripura State Rifles rushed to the spot to restore order. However, law enforcement officials also came under attack while attempting to control the mob. Around 12 personnel, including Kamalpur Subdivision Police Officer Samudra Debbarma, sustained injuries in the violence.

All injured individuals were immediately rescued and shifted to the Kamalpur Subdivision Hospital for treatment. To prevent further escalation, additional paramilitary forces have been deployed across the area.

A tense atmosphere continues to prevail in West Lembucherra, with security forces maintaining strict vigil to avert any further disturbances.
