Guwahati, April 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of compromising national security by “singing to the tune of Pakistan,” while highlighting the BJP’s record on peace and development in Assam.

Addressing an election rally in Barpeta district, Modi said his government had carried out Operation Sindoor against terror camps in Pakistan, contrasting it with Congress’s alleged “myopic” approach to development. “The party always took short-term measures so that they could indulge in corruption. But the BJP looks far ahead while taking decisions for all-around development of all sections of society,” he said.

The prime minister also accused Congress of neglecting the armed forces by refusing to implement One Rank, One Pension. “The BJP ensured that those who protect the nation get justice,” he said.

Modi credited the BJP government with establishing peace in Assam through the implementation of peace accords over the past decade. “Peace and stability in the state has led to development under BJP rule. To ensure this continues, it is necessary to keep the Congress out of power,” he said.

Appealing to women voters, Modi reiterated that the 33 per cent quota for women in Parliament will be implemented from the 2029 general elections. He urged women in Assam to press all parties to ensure passage of the Bill.
