Union Minister and former BJP President J.P. Nadda on Monday launched a blistering attack on the Congress party, accusing it of “harvesting” the tea tribe community as a mere vote-bank every five years while systematically neglecting their welfare. Addressing a massive election rally in support of BJP candidate Rupesh Gowala, Nadda claimed that the Congress had historically “rolled out the red carpet” for illegal immigrants, compromising the security and land rights of Assam’s indigenous and Adivasi populations.

Nadda alleged that previous Congress administrations actively invited infiltrators into the state, providing them with “shelter and state benefits” such as Aadhaar and Ayushman Bharat cards as part of a broader “appeasement politics” strategy. He asserted that these illegal settlers are now grabbing the ancestral lands of the Adivasis and the poor. In a stern warning, the Union Minister declared that the BJP-led government is already purging such names from the voter lists and vowed that all encroached land would be reclaimed and illegal immigrants driven out.

Saluting the tea tribe community descendants of laborers brought to Assam from Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar during the colonial era; Nadda praised their historical “stance against infiltrators.” He credited the community for protecting the region’s demographic integrity and “saving the future of Bharat Mata” by refusing to let illegal settlers take root in their localities.

The Union Health Minister further contrasted the current atmosphere of stability with the “violence, killings, and frequent curfews” that he claimed characterized the Congress era. Highlighting the BJP’s ten-year record, Nadda maintained that the “Double Engine” government has successfully replaced unrest with a new era of peace and development. He urged the electorate to support the NDA in the upcoming April 9 assembly elections to ensure the expansion of welfare initiatives for the tea tribes and the permanent establishment of regional security.
