Agartala, April 10, 2026: In a major move to ensure peaceful polling, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the deployment of 24 companies of central paramilitary forces for the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), scheduled on April 12.

Officials informed that four companies of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have already reached Tripura, while the remaining contingents are expected to arrive soon. A single CAPF company generally consists of around 100 to 135 personnel.

Security arrangements will be reinforced with personnel drawn from forces such as the Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Security Group (SSG). These units will be deployed primarily in vulnerable tribal regions to maintain law and order during polling for the 28-member council.

The central forces will augment the presence of nearly 11,000 security personnel already mobilized for election duties across the state.

Addressing concerns over law and order, Chief Minister Manik Saha recently revealed that about 40 incidents of violence have occurred since the election schedule was announced. He emphasized that the administration remains firm in its resolve to prevent any attempts to influence the electoral process through force or intimidation.

Out of a total of 1,257 polling stations, authorities have classified 311 as highly sensitive, necessitating enhanced security coverage in these locations.
