Agartala, April 14, 2026: The Tripura State Election Commission has directed re-polling at three polling stations under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections after detecting serious irregularities during the voting process.
As per an official statement, polling at two stations under the 10-Kulai–Champahao (ST) District Council constituency—Bhattimoydan S.B. School (10/3) and Ramdeb Thakur Para S.B. School (10/17)—has been declared null and void. The decision was taken following a detailed review of reports submitted by the District Election Officer, Returning Officer, and other concerned authorities, which pointed to disruptions affecting the fairness of polling.
In another incident, irregularities were also reported at 39-Hirapur S.B. School under the 17-Pekuarjala–Janmejayanagar (ST) constituency in Sepahijala district. Based on the observer’s report and video evidence, attempts by certain individuals to tamper with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were brought to light, raising serious concerns over the integrity of the electoral process.
Acting on these findings, the Commission has invoked its constitutional authority to order fresh polling at all three affected booths. The re-poll will be conducted on April 16, 2026, between 7 AM and 4 PM.
The Commission has stated that enhanced security arrangements will be ensured to facilitate a free, fair, and peaceful voting process. It also urged all stakeholders, including political parties, candidates, and voters, to cooperate in maintaining the sanctity of the democratic exercise.
