Itanagar, April 16: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Thursday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening education and healthcare, urging students to embrace skill-based learning and focus on becoming job creators rather than job seekers.

Speaking at the inauguration of three new facilities at Dera Natung Government College, an administrative block, a prefabricated badminton and judo hall, and a recreation hall—Khandu said the government is working to bridge infrastructure gaps across educational institutions. He paid tribute to former education minister Dera Natung, noting that the college named in his honor continues to uphold his vision of empowering youth through quality education.

The Chief Minister congratulated the college’s faculty and administration for maintaining strong academic growth, highlighting that the institution currently serves over 4,600 students across Arts, Science, and Commerce streams, supported by 14 academic departments. He also encouraged students to actively participate in sports, emphasizing the role of athletics in instilling discipline, leadership and a healthy lifestyle.

Khandu informed students about the state’s scholarship program that fully sponsors those admitted to the world’s top 150 universities, urging them to take advantage of the opportunity for global exposure. He announced that two science centres with planetariums will be established in Namsai and Dirang to promote scientific learning.

Highlighting emerging opportunities in hydropower, MSMEs, startups, and entrepreneurship, Khandu underscored the importance of skill development. He cited initiatives such as the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Swavalamban Yojana, startup support programs, and the Arunachal Pradesh Investment and Innovation Park as platforms designed to nurture innovation and enterprise.
