Assamese cinema superstar Ravi Sarma won the Best Actor award at the inaugural INCA Awards 2026, held in Mumbai on April 16, for his intense performance in the film Rudra. The accolade marks a proud milestone for Assam’s film industry on the national stage.

Sarma’s portrayal in Rudra earned widespread praise for its depth and power, solidifying his stature as a leading figure in Assamese cinema. Despite the film’s mixed audience reception compared to his earlier hit Sri Raghupati (2023), the win highlights his enduring appeal.

A veteran of Assamese films since his debut in Hiya Diya Niya (2000) directed by Munin Barua, Sarma has starred in notable movies like Tumi Aahibaane (2017), Poley Poley Urey Mon (2011), and Sri Raghupati. He remains active in Assam’s mobile theatre scene, currently associated with Hengool Theatre.

The ceremony celebrated achievements across Indian cinema, with Sarma’s triumph being hailed as a significant moment for regional talent.
