Agartala, April 17, 2026: The election to the 28 seats of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) witnessed a fierce political battle, with Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Friday stating that the process was marked by significant challenges, including alleged administrative pressure and attempts to destabilize his party, Tipra Motha.
Following the declaration of results, Debbarma—who is also a Member of District Council (MDC)—took to social media to address party workers and supporters. He asserted that the election was “not easy,” claiming that he had to struggle against various pressures and that there were deliberate efforts to divide the party. Despite these hurdles, he credited the support and affection of the Tiprasa people for enabling Tipra Motha to retain control of the Hills.
Emphasizing the broader objective of the movement, Debbarma said the struggle is aimed at securing the future of the Tiprasa community and would continue in the coming days.
At the same time, he issued a strong appeal for peace in the post-election period. Amid reports of sporadic clashes and tensions from different parts of the state, he urged supporters to refrain from any form of violence or provocation.
“If people truly care for me, they must stay away from violence,” he conveyed, cautioning that internal conflicts among tribal communities would harm future generations and damage the state’s image.
Debbarma stressed that maintaining peace and unity is essential to safeguarding the interests of the next generation, calling on all supporters to act responsibly in the aftermath of the electoral victory.
