Manipur Police arrested 19 individuals across the greater Imphal area for allegedly violating curfew orders and engaging in offences including road blockades and damage to public property.

Officials said the arrests were carried out during coordinated enforcement drives in multiple localities following reports of disruption and obstruction. The crackdown comes as authorities continue to enforce restrictions in sensitive areas to maintain law and order.

In a separate case, a 29-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posting inflammatory and threatening content on social media from a relief camp in the state, prompting renewed warnings from police against attempts to incite violence online.

The accused, identified as Louriyam Ajitkumar Singh of Motbung Mamang Leikai, was staying at Lamboi Khongnangkhong relief camp and was found operating a Facebook account under the name “L. Ajit Singh”.

According to police, the account had shared highly provocative material, including threats and calls for violence, which authorities said had the potential to disturb public order and inflame communal sentiments.

Police said the arrest followed close monitoring of social media activity amid the ongoing tensions in Manipur. Investigations are underway to ascertain whether the accused acted alone or had links to a wider network, while authorities are also examining the reach and impact of the posts.

Manipur Police reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt communal harmony or spread violence through digital platforms.
