Agartala, April 22, 2026: Tension continues to escalate across parts of Tripura following the announcement of the ADC election results, amid serious allegations of political violence and instability. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused a section of the Tipra Motha Party of staging targeted attacks on its workers and supporters in different areas of the state.

According to BJP leaders, incidents of vandalism, intimidation, and attacks on party workers’ residences have been reported from multiple locations. The party claims that the situation has become so severe that several workers and their families have fled their homes, seeking safety elsewhere. The BJP further alleged that tensions have intensified particularly after its victory in the 28-Silachhari-Manubankul ADC constituency under the Sabroom subdivision.

Local sources indicate that unrest has also affected marketplaces and commercial hubs, with attempts allegedly made to disrupt normal trade activities. Reports of arson and damage to BJP party offices have added to the growing concern.

Amid the deteriorating situation, BJP State President and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee visited the affected areas to take stock of the ground reality. During his visit, he inspected damaged party offices and interacted with local leaders and affected families. Addressing the media, he emphasized that while the party is urging restraint, strict legal action will be pursued against those responsible for the violence.

The administration, on its part, has heightened security arrangements and intensified surveillance in sensitive areas to prevent further escalation.

The developments have raised serious concerns over law and order in the state, highlighting how political discord can disrupt public life even in a democratic framework. Attention now turns to how effectively the authorities and political leadership can act to restore peace and normalcy in Tripura.
