Silchar, April 25: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar, has issued a directive prohibiting hostel boarders, mess workers, and individuals associated with the institute from conducting religious activities in open or common areas of the hostel or campus premises.
The order, passed by the Dean of Students’ Welfare on Friday, took immediate effect. It instructed that no prayers, religious gatherings, or related activities be held in shared spaces within the hostel or institute grounds.
The notification emphasized that violations would be treated seriously and could attract disciplinary action. It further stated that the directive had the approval of the competent authority and was enforceable without delay.
The specific reasons behind the issuance of the order were not immediately disclosed.
